If you’re an Internet marketer or just a small business using Google AdWords for your advertising, it’s important to keep on top of new developments so that you can try to enhance your results. Any time something new comes out, it’s worth considering and perhaps doing a trial run to get some statistics on it. If the conversion rate and click through rate are high enough, it may be time to add a new element to your advertising campaign.

One such possibility right now is Google AdWords Image Extensions, which is adding pictures into advertisements in an effort to enhance both click through rate and conversion rate by providing high quality traffic.
The old saying that a picture is worth a thousand words may ring true in this regard, as you are limited to a certain number of characters in your advertisement and can convey a lot of information about your business or product through an image. Even if it’s a simple as a picture of a shirt that is for sale, you can convey information on its color, style and brand with one picture.

While images have been in search results before, attaching them to the ad unit means that clicks on those images will drive traffic to your site, rather than the site hosting the other image.

Of course, you obviously need to have high quality images available in order to make this type of marketing worthwhile. It seems like it would be a particularly good idea for hotels, restaurants and other businesses that can provide some eye candy. Obviously, an image of a regular storefront isn’t going to do all that much for you.

Another big benefit to AdWords Image Extensions is that you will be getting a better quality of traffic since there is more information about you. Remember, you don’t want all clicks. You only want the clicks that are actually going to give you business. Those that are going to bounce quickly are worthless users, so you don’t want to spend any money bringing them in.

Ultimately it seems like Image Extensions should be a pretty interesting and successful way to advertise through AdWords, but you’ll need to test it for your particular business to find out. Don’t simply put forth one test with one image, either, make sure that you do A versus B testing in order to be thorough.
